Bautista focussed on front end

Following a difficult weekend at the Tuscan track, the San Carlo Honda Gresini team was back out on track yesterday at the official MotoGP test to resolve some of the problems encountered during the race.
Álvaro Bautista completed a total of 49 laps with the softer rear tyre, as he looked to regain confidence around the track. The Spaniard was told to use the hard tyre by Bridgestone for safety reasons, which he did not get to grips with during the race. It was tough to gain momentum after such a difficult weekend, yet despite still suffering pain in his elbow caused by yesterday’s collision with the bike of Casey Stoner, he completed 22 laps at a pace of around 1.48’5. With all the successful work carried out with the Showa suspension and bike set-up, the team is confident of a good result in the forthcoming USA race.
The team’s CRT effort with Michele Pirro on board his FTR-Honda machine put in 60 laps over the course of the day as it looked to find solutions to the chain slipping that occurred in the pervious two races. The team used a new clutch, after which the problem was no longer encountered, much to the delight of the team. Pirro also worked with a new rear suspension and front forks, which he felt gave the bike a better feeling out on track.
