Dorna Sports wins National Award for Arts and Sciences in sport

Dorna Sports, the television and commercial rights holder of MotoGP™, was recognised on Thursday for its use of camera technology, picking up a National Award in Spain for Arts and Sciences in sport. Other award-winners included FC Barcelona, footballer Radamel Falcao and Spanish Olympians.

The prize was handed out by the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), the Spanish Sports Ministry, in relation to the sporting year of 2012. The awards are dedicated to those who have contributed and been noted for their work or efforts over the course of their professional lives.
In this case, Dorna Sports is awarded for the use of more and more technologically advanced media and television production platforms in the MotoGP™ World Championship. The company first began promoting the series in 1992 and has continued to persevere and invest in such technology ever since. Nowadays, High Definition cameras are in action during every Grand Prix, including the spectacular gyroscoptic camera.
Among the other winners are FC Barcelona (Stadium Cup), Atletico de Madrid’s Radamel Falcao (South American Sportman of the Year), windsurfer Marina Alabau (Spanish Sportswoman of the Year) and tawkwondo’s Joel Gonzalez (Spanish Sportsman of the Year).
