Marc Marquez admits he made a mistake while pushing too hard and crashing out of the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón.
Marc Marquez was starting from pole for the 29th time in his MotoGP™ career but didn’t enjoy the best of starts and found himself down in third at the first corner. He quickly fought his way past the Ducati GP15 of Andrea Iannone and set about hunting down Jorge Lorenzo in the lead.
However, a mistake by Marc Marquez on the second lap at turn 12 saw him lose the front and record his fifth DNF of the season - the most he has had in a single World Championship season. The Spaniard had demonstrated the pace of run with Lorenzo during qualifying and practice and was disappointed to see his chance at a fifth victory this season come crashing down.
Marquez remains third in the MotoGP™ World Championship standings but now finds himself 79 points behind the leader Valentino Rossi.
Marc Marquez: “Today I can only apologise to the team and the fans, because we were working very well and we had a very good pace all weekend. On the second lap, when braking for Turn 12, I made a mistake and lost the front. It was my fault and I apologise. When a season is not going well for you, then nothing goes your way, and it seems that this season we are finding things hard. There are still four races to go and we will try to be at the front and fight to the end.”
